Where to walk in Madeira: The Valley of nuns (Curral Des Freira) - short walk

How to get there: From Funchal -take bus 81 up into the hills. About Euro 7 both ways. Stop at Eira do Serrado if you want to walk down hill. Stop at the village of Curral des Freira if you want to walk up hill (recommended). Its kinda steep at times.

Walk as such: From the village Curral des Freira, follow the tarmac road for abour 3-400 meters before heading oft onto the marked trail (see picture beneath). Less that 3K to the top. Take the bus back from Funchal from Eira do Serrado if you walked up hill.

Easy to get there, a short walk. And bus stops just at the start and finish.
